Hi I’m Katie
KBD Founder
I grew up in Sidcup and then Harlow, where my love of dance began at the Brenda Taylor School of Dance before training at Makin Steps and the Harlow Ballet School. My teenage years were filled with performances at the Harlow Playhouse, which inspired me to audition for professional dance schools. I trained in musical theatre at Laine Theatre Arts, where I discovered my passion for commercial dance and began performing professionally.

After years working in London as a dancer, choreographer, and creative, I found my true calling as a full time choreographer. In 2018, when I fell pregnant for the first time, KBD Dance was born — starting with two small classes and a dream! Since then, KBD has grown to over 400 students, two amazing annual shows, and an incredible team.
Choreography will always be my first love, and I feel so lucky to do what I love every day while balancing life as both “Mummy” and “KBD.” The future of KBD is so exciting, and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s been part of this journey so far!

Georgia
Teacher
Hi everyone! I’m Georgia, and I’ve been with KBD Dance since the very beginning. My love for dance started in baby ballet and grew through ballet, tap, modern, and street at Pineapple Performing Arts. After performing with Phoenix Theatre Group and touring with Pop Divas Live!, I joined KBD as a teacher in 2018. What began as one small street class has grown into so many amazing groups, and I’m so proud to watch my students grow as dancers every year! -

Luna
Teacher
Hi, I’m Louise! I started dancing with Katie back in 2012, even before KBD Dance officially began. After years of trying different schools, I finally found my home with KBD and its amazing community. Since then, I’ve worked with Kate on musicals, competitions, summer camps, and pantomimes. The creativity and support inspired me to co-run my own theatre group! I’m so proud to be part of the KBD Dance Team and can’t wait for more adventures ahead. -

Lu
Teacher
Hey, I’m Lu! I started dancing at age 4 at The Brenda Taylor School of Dance, training in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, and musical theatre. Years later, I met Katie while performing in West Side Story and eventually joined KBD — the best decision I’ve made! It reignited my passion for dance and helped me grow in commercial, contemporary, and modern jazz. I love teaching at KBD and watching our amazing dancers shine! -

Reanna
Teacher
Hey, I’m Reanna! I’ve been performing most of my life and now work full-time as an actor, touring with Pop Divas Live!, performing in Jack and the Beanstalk, appearing in short films, and entertaining children across Essex. I joined KBD at 15, and it’s played a huge part in building my confidence and passion for dance. I’m so proud to now be part of the amazing KBD team I’ve always looked up to!

Lucy
Administrator & Stage Manager
Coming from a theatrical family, it was only natural I’d follow the same path! After studying Events Management at Sheffield Hallam, I received the Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship to train at LAMDA in Stage Management and Technical Theatre. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a Company Stage Manager on touring shows around the world. In 2024, I welcomed my baby boy Riley, settled in Bishop’s Stortford with my partner Matt, and joined the KBD team — the perfect fit for my new life and a joy to work with my big sister every day! -

Conor
Technical Manager
My first ever dance lessons were taught by Katie before KBD Dance even existed. When moved into the technical and production side of theatre, Katie was still always one of the most fun people to work with on shows, so of course I’m still working with her to this day with show lighting, videos, and whatever else I can put my skills to!

FAQs
-
Anything they feel comfortable moving in! We recommend trainers for Commercial and Street, and socks or bare feet for Lyrical, Jazz and Contemporary. When you sign up, your child will receive a KBD t-shirt, and you can purchase additional uniform items from our online shop. Please bring a water bottle to every class — staying hydrated helps dancers move at their best.
-
All classes take place at South Mill Arts in Bishop’s Stortford, which has its own free car park. Please remember to register your car registration number at reception on arrival. Ask the friendly reception team which studio you’re in, and look out for the KBD banner when you arrive!
-
Every class begins with a fun, follow-along warm-up, followed by technique and skill work depending on the dance style. We always finish with learning a dance routine — with plenty of help from our teachers and assistants — so students leave each session feeling confident and accomplished.
-
You can learn more about each teacher on our Timetable and The Team pages. All KBD teachers are DBS checked, first-aid trained, and safeguarding certified to ensure your child’s safety and wellbeing in every class.
-
It’s completely normal! Many children feel shy or unsure before trying something new. We pride ourselves on our friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and every class has lovely assistants who help new students feel comfortable and supported from the moment they arrive.
-
We welcome dancers of all abilities and needs. Please contact us directly to discuss how we can best support your child — we’re happy to adapt and make sure every dancer feels included and safe.
Kind Words
